Organisation name:
EMMS International
How long have you been at Norton Park?
Two years.
How many staff do you have based here?
Six, although until Covid numbers drop again we are mainly working from home.
Tell us a little about the work (or activity) that you do?
EMMS International works with partners in Malawi, Nepal, India and Scotland to improve people’s well-being and provide better healthcare in some of the most vulnerable communities, including in the hardest to reach areas. Our work addresses inequalities for people, particularly for women and girls, who are excluded and marginalised by sickness and poverty through developing palliative care, reducing the impact of disease and responding to healthcare emergencies with our partners.
Why is Norton Park such a good place for you to be based?
Founded in Edinburgh back in 1841, EMMS International has always been based in Edinburgh. From here we can work with our local overseas partners, and easily travel if necessary and when restrictions are lifted. Norton Park is an ideal location for our small team, with brilliant and friendly day-to-day support from the Norton Park staff, who make sure the whole building functions smoothly. We enjoy sharing the building with other like-minded charities.
What sentence best sums up Norton Park?
